BPU Community Forums Scheduled

(KANSAS CITY, Ks.) The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) has scheduled three community forums to share information with customers, stakeholders and the community on potential rate adjustments, billing process modifications, and necessary capital improvement projects.
 
The first community forum will be held at the BPU Administration Building on April 15th at 10:30 a.m., the second is planned for the Community Center in Armourdale on April 19th at 6:30 p.m., and the third is scheduled for the Kansas City Kansas community College on April 20th at 6:30 p.m. in addition, there will be two days of public hearings held on Monday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 4 at 9:00 a.m. at BPU headquarters, 540 Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas. Public comments will be heard during this process after which time technical testimony will be provided until the hearing process is concluded.
 
The intent of these public forums and hearings is to share information with customers, stakeholders, and the community, while affording an opportunity for any comments or questions.

About BPU
BPU’s water department was originally created in 1909, and its electric utility was operational in 1912. The purpose of the utility, then and to this day, is to provide the highest quality electric and water services at the lowest possible cost. Today the publicly owned utility serves approximately 65,000 electric and 51,000 water customers, primarily in Wyandotte County, Kansas.
