BPU’s Commercial New Construction Program encourages the design and construction of new electric heating in commercial and industrial buildings as well as the renovation and fuel switching of existing electric-heating systems. Incentives are available to help offset initial costs associated with the design and installation of energy-efficient electric-heating options. The new (or renovated) building must receive its electricity from BPU.
Service Drop Incentive
When you commit a new commercial building to electric heat, BPU will absorb a portion of costs for the building service drop. Depending on building size and service voltage, this incentive may range from $5,000 to $10,000, in most instances.
Heating-Equipment Installation Incentives
These will be paid to the building owner based upon the kW heating or heat pump ton capacity of the equipment. Installation of the heating equipment will be verified by an independent contractor.
