BPU can now send text alerts to Customers to stay better informed on outages, maintenance and billing issues

(KANSAS CITY, Ks.) —The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) is now offering a new convenient feature for customers.

Customers can now receive customer billing and service outage alerts. These text alerts will include billing and payment information, electric and water outages, potential water leaks and scheduled maintenance alerts. Customers who have provided a cell phone number for their account will automatically be opted in to the new messaging system.

All BPU Text Alerts will come from 844-843-3500. Customers are encouraged to save this number on their phone as BPU Texting.

If a customer’s phone number has changed, of if the phone number on their monthly bill is incorrect, they are encouraged to contact BPU at 913-573-9190 to let BPU know.
