BPU Releases 2020 Water Quality Report

(KANSAS CITY, Kan.) — The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) released its annual Water Quality Report. The 2020 report, which can be found online at www.bpu.com is also being mailed to customers via hard copy as part of the Spring/Summer BPU Connection Newsletter.

BPU is pleased to report that its water meets or surpasses all standards for safe and high-quality water. BPU delivers safe and reliable drinking water through 1,000 miles of pipes to its customers. BPU proudly serves over 51,000 residential and commercial customers in a service area of over 152 square miles. The service area includes Kansas City, Kansas, Edwardsville, southern Leavenworth County, parts of Bonner Springs and a small section of northern Johnson County.

BPU’s state-of-the art water system pumps 30 million gallons of water a day (MGD), including one water treatment facility; three major pump stations and two of the nation’s largest horizontal collector wells.

The water quality report was generated based on BPU’s certified laboratory, which ran 41,800 tests on 8,700 water samples to ensure that its water meets quality standards. Click on the following link to review the full report:
