(KANSAS CITY, Kan.) — The BPU Employees Charity Golf Corporation will be distributing checks totaling $51,000 to the Full Throttle Foundation, Youth for Christ Serving Kansas City, Wyandotte County Extension Office, The Village Initiative Inc., Apostolic Assembly of Faith in Christ Jesus, Bethel Neighborhood Center and the BPU Employee Foundation. Proceeds were raised in the corporate sponsored 2023 BPU Charity Golf Tournament event.
This year’s tournament was another success, and this could not be possible without the many sponsors, those that donated prizes, golfers and the employee volunteers that gave up part of their Saturday to assist in conducting this annual event.
“This is a great example of how the utility has committed itself to giving back to the community,” said BPU Charity Golf Corp. Chair David Mehlhaff. Mehlhaff said that the funds will be utilized to feed and clothe children, educational outreach and mentoring programs for young people in the community who are at risk.
As part of its on-going commitment to the community, the BPU Employees Charity Golf Corporation, a Kansas not-for-profit organization, sponsors and hosts an annual golf tournament. Since it began in 1992, the annual event has raised over $779,000 dollars for area children’s charities and nonprofit organizations that benefit children and youth in Wyandotte County. Next year’s tournament is slated for Saturday, September 14th, 2024 at Dub’s Dread.
