Integrated Resource Plan
How BPU plans to reliably, affordably, and sustainably serve customers for years to come.
How Is BPU Conducting the IRP?
An IRP is a study that looks at how BPU can reliably, affordably, and sustainably serve its customers. BPU is required to file an IRP with the Western Area Power Administration, an agency of the Department of Energy, every five years. BPU has partnered with Black & Veatch to conduct the IRP that will evaluate various resource portfolios in conjunction with BPU’s long-term planning objectives:

System Reliability
Ensuring power is consistently available when customers need it.

Minimizing Rate Impacts
Keeping electric service affordable for the community.

Environmental Stewardship
Responsibly managing environmental impact of generation.

Regulatory Compliance
Meeting all federal, state, and local requirements.
