BPU Community Solar Farm
BPU’s Community Solar Farm is one more way we are bringing carbon-free resource options to Wyandotte County and supporting a greener future for the community we serve. The program gives customers a practical way to take part in solar energy. There are no panels to install at home and no equipment to maintain. Customers can lease panels from the solar farm, and the energy those panels produce is credited to their monthly BPU bill.

How It Works
1. Lease Solar Panels
Choose the number of panels that works for your home or business. Residential customers can lease 1 to 10 panels. Commercial customers can lease an unlimited number of panels.
2. Get Monthly Credits
Each panel earns approximately $3.20 per month in bill credits based on 40 kWh of generation.
3. Help Make an Impact
Each panel helps reduce COâ‚‚ emissions by 12 tons. That is equal to planting 278 trees or recycling 37 tons of waste.
4. Program Details
Cost: Approximately $330 per panel, active until 2042.
Estimated annual savings: About $38.40 per panel.

Who Can Participate?
Homeowners, renters, and businesses can all take part as long as they are BPU customers in good standing.
Can I track my panels?
Yes. You can track your solar energy output online and see how your leased panels are performing.
Do I own the panels?
No. You lease the energy output from the panels, and that energy is credited to your bill each month.
What happens if I move?
If you move outside BPU’s service area, you can return your panels and BPU will repurchase them.
